The WSOP Online Main Event is the centrepiece of GGPoker's six-week bracelet series, and it carries a $25 million guarantee at a $5,000 buy-in. The series runs from August 16 through September 29, awarding 33 gold WSOP bracelets and paying out several hundred million dollars across the full schedule.
With the series now past its halfway point, the Main Event is the event everything else has been building toward — and the $25 million figure demands a field that is far from trivial to assemble.
The Math Behind $25 Million
A $5,000 buy-in with a $25 million guarantee requires 5,000 entries after rake, and realistically somewhat more once the operator's cut is accounted for. That is a large number for a five-figure-adjacent online tournament, and it is only achievable because of how the modern online Main Event is constructed.
Three mechanisms make it work:
Multi-flight structure. Players can enter across numerous starting days, which spreads the field across a window rather than requiring everyone to be available at one moment. This is the single biggest driver of large online fields.
Re-entry. Multiple bullets per player inflate entry counts substantially. A serious professional firing three or four times counts as three or four entries against the guarantee.
Satellite volume. GGPoker runs an enormous satellite pipeline, from sub-$1 steps upward. A meaningful share of any online Main Event field arrives via qualification rather than direct buy-in — which is exactly how these fields reach five thousand.
The practical question for players is whether the guarantee gets met. If the field falls short, the operator covers the difference — pure additional equity distributed across everyone who entered. Overlay is the highest-EV situation available in tournament poker, and it is worth watching the registration numbers closely as late registration approaches its close.
The Wider Schedule: 33 Bracelets in Six Weeks
Thirty-three bracelets awarded online over six weeks is a significant number, and it has changed what a WSOP bracelet means.
Some of the standout events on the schedule include the $500 Mini Main Event with a $5 million guarantee, and the $1,500 Millionaire Maker where the champion is guaranteed at least $1 million. At least $10 million is up for grabs in the $10,000 GGMillion$ High Rollers event.
The $500 Mini Main is arguably the best value proposition on the whole calendar. A $5 million guarantee at that buy-in requires roughly 10,000 entries — an enormous field, but one that comes overwhelmingly from recreational players and satellite qualifiers. Field quality at $500 online is substantially softer than at $5,000, and the prize pool is a fifth the size for a tenth the buy-in.
The Millionaire Maker's guaranteed seven-figure first prize is the more marketable proposition, but it is worth understanding what a guaranteed $1 million top prize does to the payout structure. Money concentrated at the top has to come from somewhere, which typically means flatter payouts through the middle of the pay ladder. That shifts optimal strategy toward playing for the win rather than laddering — a meaningful ICM consideration at the final table.
The Bracelet Debate
Thirty-three online bracelets in a six-week window versus roughly a hundred awarded across the entire live calendar. The traditionalist objection is familiar: an online bracelet won at a computer in a multi-flight, re-entry field is not equivalent to one won across five days of live play against a physically present field.
The counterargument is straightforward. Online fields are frequently larger and, at the top buy-in levels, tougher. Winning a 5,000-entry online tournament against a field containing a high concentration of studied professionals is a genuinely difficult achievement, and the variance involved is comparable.
Both positions have merit and neither will win the argument. What is objectively true is that the bracelet's scarcity has declined, and scarcity was always part of its value. A player with three bracelets in 2026 does not have the same claim to greatness as a player with three in 2006.
Playing a Multi-Flight Online Main Event
If you are entering, a few structural realities are worth internalising.
Late flights are softer but shallower. The last starting flights of any multi-flight event tend to draw the most recreational players — people who decided at the last minute. They also typically have compressed structures. That trade-off usually favours skilled players, but it changes the game meaningfully.
Re-entry changes early-stage strategy. In a re-entry event, the cost of busting early is one buy-in, not your tournament. That justifies substantially looser early-stage play for players who intend to fire multiple bullets. It also means the field around you is playing looser, which changes the ranges you are facing.
Day 2 is where the tournament starts. Everything before the flights consolidate is essentially qualification. Manage your energy and your bankroll accordingly.

The Access Problem
The unavoidable caveat for a large share of readers: GGPoker does not serve US players outside specific regulated arrangements. The WSOP Online bracelet series on GGPoker is accessible to international players, while American players face a different landscape entirely.
That geographic split is one of the more awkward facts about modern poker. The WSOP is an American institution with an American history, and its largest online bracelet series is unavailable to most Americans.

What This Means for Players
Satellite rather than buy in. A $5,000 direct buy-in is a serious commitment for most players. GGPoker's satellite ladder compresses that dramatically, and the satellite fields are far softer than the Main Event itself. The standard bankroll management heuristics apply — if a $5,000 buy-in represents more than a small percentage of your tournament roll, satellite in or sell action.
Watch the registration numbers. Overlay is free money. Registration figures are visible in the lobby as late registration progresses, and an event tracking short of its guarantee is worth entering even if you would otherwise have passed.
The Mini Main is the better EV play for most. A $500 buy-in with a $5 million guarantee and a heavily recreational field offers a better risk-adjusted proposition than the flagship for the overwhelming majority of players. Prestige is not part of your expected value calculation.
Prepare for the volume. A six-week series with 33 bracelet events is a marathon. Players who try to play everything burn out and play badly by week four. Select events where you have an actual edge, and protect against tilt by building rest into the schedule.
The Series in Context
Thirty-three bracelets, several hundred million in payouts, and a $25 million Main Event guarantee — the WSOP Online series has become one of the largest single concentrations of tournament prize money in poker, live or online.
Whether it dilutes the bracelet is a debate that will run indefinitely. What it unambiguously does is put an enormous amount of money in circulation and give a global player base access to WSOP branding that live attendance never could.
