The WSOP Circuit Paris Main Event has reached its business end at the brand-new Partouche Pasino Club, with 596 entries across five starting flights and 213 players remaining as the field consolidates toward a gold ring.
The €1,500 event is the centrepiece of a festival running September 1-14, and it marks the first Circuit stop at Partouche's new Paris venue — part of a broader expansion that has made 2026 the most internationally ambitious year in the tour's history.
A New Room for a Returning Festival
The Partouche Pasino Club is the story behind the story. Paris has hosted WSOP Circuit poker before, but the move into Partouche's new-build venue gives the French capital a purpose-designed tournament space rather than a repurposed casino floor.
That matters more than it sounds. Large multi-flight Main Events need table capacity, reliable structure timing and enough room to run side events simultaneously without cannibalising the schedule. Venues that cannot provide it end up capping fields, which caps prize pools, which caps the festival's ability to attract the travelling players who make an international stop viable.
With five Day 1 flights, the Paris Main Event is built for volume. Multi-flight structures let players who bust on one day re-enter on another, which is the single biggest driver of entry numbers at regional festivals. It also spreads the load across a venue's table count — you do not need 600 seats at once, you need 200 seats five times.
The Numbers So Far
The first two flights recorded 369 entries between them: 172 on Day 1a and 197 on Day 1b. Those two days alone generated a prize pool approaching €500,000.
Day 1c kicked off at 1 p.m. with two further flights to follow, and the field ultimately reached 596 entries. That leaves 213 players still in contention as the tournament moves toward its final days.
Hugo Ouazana and Philippe Souki emerged from Day 1b as the standout stacks, each bagging over one million chips. Both are familiar names in French poker, and the depth of stack they carried into Day 2 is significant in a structure where the average is a fraction of that.
Natasha Mercier has also featured in the reporting, winning a notable pot with two pair against Drissi as the field approached the money.
Why the Circuit's International Push Matters
The WSOP Circuit spent most of its existence as an American tour — a year-round grassroots feeder running through regional US casinos, offering gold rings and a path toward the main stage in Las Vegas.
The 2026 season broke that pattern deliberately. The tour shifted to a permanent calendar-year format running January through December, replacing the old autumn-to-summer cycle, and built out an unprecedented international schedule alongside the domestic stops. Paris sits in that expansion alongside Bratislava, Tallinn, Aix-en-Provence and the tour's first-ever Malta stop later this month.
The strategic logic is clear. European live poker has grown substantially over the last decade, with strong domestic scenes in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the Nordics, and a well-developed festival circuit that draws recurring travelling fields. The WSOP brand carries weight everywhere; the Circuit gives it a vehicle for converting that brand equity into recurring European revenue without waiting for the summer in Las Vegas.

The Gold Ring Incentive
Circuit ring winners during the 2026 season receive an exclusive $5,000 WSOP package redeemable at either WSOP Europe or WSOP Paradise, covering tournament buy-in and hotel accommodation.
That addition changes the value proposition of a Circuit win meaningfully. A €1,500 Main Event title in Paris is worth the prize money, the ring, and a $5,000 route into a much larger festival. For a player on a modest bankroll, that package is arguably the most valuable component — it converts a regional score into access to an event they could not otherwise justify entering.
It is a smart piece of ecosystem design from the WSOP. Rather than paying out more cash, the tour recycles winners into its own flagship festivals, which builds field size at the top of the funnel and gives Circuit players a genuine progression path.
What This Means for Players
Multi-flight events reward flight selection. With five Day 1s, not all flights are equal. Later flights in a festival typically contain a higher proportion of professionals who have already busted earlier days, while opening flights often skew more recreational. If you are entering once, entering early is frequently the softer spot — though it also means a longer wait to Day 2 if you bag.
Re-entry changes correct strategy. In a multi-flight re-entry event, early-stage play should be looser and more aggressive than in a freezeout, because busting carries a known, capped cost rather than ending your tournament. Bagging big has compounding value. Ouazana and Souki's million-chip bags matter beyond the immediate chip count.
