WSOP Circuit Madrid: 11 Rings, Oct 23

By jason-murphy·October 5, 2026·6 min read

WSOP Circuit Madrid will make history when it opens on October 23, 2026. The festival at Casino Gran Vía is the first WSOP Circuit stop ever held in Spain, and it will award 11 gold rings over 11 days, running through November 2. A €1,500 Main Event with four starting flights is the centrepiece, according to PokerNews' schedule report.

For European players, this is a convenient and affordable entry into the WSOP brand. For the Circuit, it is another sign of a year spent opening new territories. Here is what you need to know about the schedule, the format and how to approach it.

Dates, Venue and Format

The key details are:

  • Venue: Casino Gran Vía, Madrid
  • Dates: October 23 to November 2, 2026
  • Rings: 11 WSOP Circuit rings
  • Buy-ins: from €300 to €2,500
  • Main Event: €1,500, with four starting flights beginning October 28

The Main Event structure is slightly unusual. Three flights use 40-minute levels, while the final flight on October 30 uses a faster 20-minute structure. Day 2 consolidation takes place on October 31, and the champion will be crowned on November 1.

The faster final flight gives players with limited time a way to enter on a compressed schedule, though 20-minute levels mean less room for post-flop play and put a premium on shorter-stack tactics. Players who prefer deeper structures can choose one of the earlier flights.

The Ring Events

The programme blends accessible entry points with a few higher-priced events. PokerNews lists the following highlights:

  • Ring #1: €300 Mini Main Event
  • Ring #2: €550 Seniors event for players aged 50 and over
  • Ring #3: €550 Mystery Bounty
  • Ring #4: €300 Colossus, with six starting flights
  • Ring #6: €2,500 High Roller

Other events on the schedule include a €1,000 Deepstack, a €550 Omaha event, a €400 Superstack and a €350 Bigstack that closes the series.

This is a deliberately wide spread. Low-cost tournaments such as the €300 Mini Main and the €300 Colossus are aimed at recreational players. The Mystery Bounty format has become a popular feature across the tournament scene, and the Seniors event offers an age-restricted field. The €2,500 High Roller is the highest buy-in on the schedule, giving more experienced players a tougher event.

Why Spain Matters

Spain has a long poker tradition and several established festivals, but the WSOP Circuit had not previously held an event there. According to PokerNews, the Circuit "has spent much of 2026 breaking new ground, both at home and abroad," with record-breaking participation across recent events.

That claim is backed by recent results. The Circuit's new Malta stop attracted 879 entries to its Main Event, as we reported in our Topazio Malta report. Our overview of the WSOP Circuit's global footprint shows how the brand has been adding stops in multiple countries. Madrid fits that pattern.

For the WSOP, entering Spain adds a large, poker-friendly market. For players, it adds an accessible event in a major European city with good transport links. Because the buy-ins are modest, the festival should appeal to a broad range of players rather than just professionals.

What Is a WSOP Circuit Ring?

If you are new to the Circuit, the ring is the series' trophy. Each ring event awards a gold ring to the winner, similar to the bracelet awarded at the main World Series of Poker. Circuit events are lower buy-in and more numerous than bracelet events, and they are held in casinos around the world. The ring winners also gain access to Circuit-specific rewards, typically including qualification for larger events.

The WSOP's online and live programmes link together. For example, Circuit winners in 2026 have received packages to the WSOP Paradise festival in the Bahamas, as our WSOP Paradise guide explains. Tips for Playing the Madrid Festival

A big multi-flight festival has its own rhythm, and a few practical points can help.

1. Choose your flight carefully

With four starting flights for the Main Event, you can choose when to play. The first three flights use 40-minute levels, which provide more room for decisions. The final flight uses 20-minute levels. If you play best with deeper stacks relative to the blinds, pick one of the earlier flights.

2. Play to your bankroll

A €1,500 buy-in is significant for most recreational players. If you plan to enter several ring events, set a budget in advance. Our bankroll management guide covers how to budget for tournament schedules and handle variance.

3. Know the format

Mystery Bounty events and Colossus-style tournaments have different dynamics from a standard freezeout. In a Mystery Bounty, a portion of each buy-in goes into bounties that pay out when you eliminate a player, which changes the calculation for calling all-in bets. Preparing for these differences gives you an edge over players who treat all tournaments the same.

4. Prepare for large fields

Large fields lead to more variance and longer days. A sound structure strategy, such as being patient early and picking your spots, matters more than aggressive play in the first few levels. Our poker strategy section covers tournament fundamentals.

5. Use satellites

Where available, satellites offer an inexpensive route into larger events. Online rooms also run qualifiers for live events, so it is worth checking the promotions pages of the sites you use.

What This Means for the Online Player

Even if you never travel to Madrid, the stop matters. A growing live Circuit helps keep poker visible, supports local poker communities and feeds into the global WSOP brand. The more successful the live series are, the more promotional support online poker receives. For players in regions where online poker is restricted, live festivals can be the main way to play at scale.

If you are looking for online options, our real money poker guide and poker networks page explain how to find sites suited to your location and playing style.

Bottom Line

WSOP Circuit Madrid is a milestone for the Circuit and a very accessible festival for players. With 11 rings, buy-ins from €300 to €2,500 and a four-flight €1,500 Main Event, it is designed to attract everyone from casual players to experienced tournament grinders. The inaugural stop will be a test of how well the WSOP brand travels in Spain, and its turnout will tell us whether more Spanish dates will follow.

If you plan to attend, check the exact flight times, build your schedule around your bankroll and be ready for a competitive field. The first WSOP Circuit champion in Spain will be crowned on November 1.
