The Short Answer
Utah does not have legal, regulated online poker. Utah is the most restrictive gambling state in the United States. All forms of gambling are prohibited, including lotteries, casinos, sports betting, and daily fantasy sports. Utah is one of only two states (with Hawaii) that bans virtually all gambling.
Utah players who want to play online poker access offshore operators. The PokerSites.org review team's top picks for Utah players in May 2026 are BetOnline Poker and Bovada Poker.

Utah Online Poker Legal Status
Current Law
Utah Code § 76-10-1101 through § 76-10-1109 broadly prohibit gambling. The Utah Constitution (Article VI, Section 27) also prohibits lotteries and gambling. Utah law is uniquely comprehensive — it covers not just operating gambling but also 'gambling' (placing a bet) and even possessing gambling equipment. No exemption exists for social gambling.
Legislative Outlook
Utah is the least likely state in the US to legalize any form of gambling, including online poker. The state's dominant cultural and religious values (heavily influenced by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) strongly oppose gambling. Constitutional and statutory barriers are absolute. There is no realistic timeline.

Live Poker in Utah
Utah has no casinos, no poker rooms, and no legal gambling venues of any kind. Home poker games are technically illegal (though enforcement is virtually nonexistent for private social games). Utah players travel to Las Vegas (~6 hours from Salt Lake City, many direct flights) or Wendover, Nevada (directly on the UT-NV border, ~90 minutes from Salt Lake City) for live poker.
