The Short Answer
Alabama does not have legal, regulated online poker. Alabama has no commercial casinos and limited tribal gaming (three Poarch Creek Indian casinos with electronic bingo-style games). No sports betting. The state lottery was debated for decades before voters approved it in 2024.
Alabama players who want to play online poker access offshore operators. The PokerSites.org review team's top picks for Alabama players in May 2026 are BetOnline Poker and Bovada Poker.

Current Law
Alabama gambling law (Code of Alabama § 13A-12-20 through § 13A-12-31) prohibits promoting gambling but does not specifically address online poker. The Poarch Band of Creek Indians operates three gaming facilities under federal law. No Alabama statute criminalizes individual online poker play.
Legislative Outlook
Alabama is among the least likely states to legalize online poker in the near term. Casino gambling has been debated for decades with no resolution. The 2024 lottery approval was a breakthrough but does not extend to casino or online gaming. Most analysts do not expect iPoker before 2032.
