The WSOP Circuit is back in the Alps. Grand Casino Liechtenstein hosts the series from September 10-22, 2026, with 12 ring events, a total guarantee of CHF 1,000,000, and a CHF 1,500 Main Event carrying CHF 750,000 guaranteed from September 17-22.
It is one of the more unusual stops on the international Circuit calendar, and one of the more interesting for players who have never considered a European ring hunt.
The schedule
The headline numbers are straightforward. Twelve events award WSOP Circuit gold rings across the twelve-day festival. The Main Event — a CHF 1,500 buy-in with three-quarters of a million Swiss francs guaranteed — runs the back half of the schedule, from September 17 through September 22.
Alongside the tournaments, the venue is running a High Roller Cash Game Series from September 17-20 at CHF 25/50 blinds, spreading both no-limit hold'em and pot-limit Omaha. That is a serious stake for a regional European festival and reflects Grand Casino Liechtenstein's positioning as a destination for high-stakes cash play in the DACH region.
Online qualification runs exclusively on GGPoker, with satellites starting from $2.50. Players search "Liechtenstein" in the tournament lobby to find them. A sub-$3 route into a CHF 1,500 Main Event with CHF 750K guaranteed is a favourable overlay of opportunity, if not of prize pool.
Why Liechtenstein
Liechtenstein is a curious poker story. A microstate of roughly 40,000 people wedged between Switzerland and Austria, it liberalised its gambling laws in 2017 and rapidly became a casino destination for a catchment area that includes southern Germany, eastern Switzerland and western Austria — a region with substantial disposable income and, in Germany's case, a restrictive domestic online gambling regime.
For the WSOP, that geography is the whole proposition. A Circuit stop in Liechtenstein reaches the German-speaking market without dealing with Germany's own licensing framework, and it does so in a venue small enough that a CHF 1 million guarantee is ambitious rather than trivial.
For players, the practical appeal is field composition. DACH-region festivals draw a healthy mix of serious regulars and well-funded recreational players from the surrounding banking and industrial economies. It is not a soft field in the sense of a low-stakes online tournament, but it is a long way from the grinder density of a Las Vegas Circuit stop.
The Circuit's 2026 reinvention
Liechtenstein arrives in the middle of a significant structural change for the WSOP Circuit. The tour shifted to a calendar-year format for the 2026 season, abandoning the old season boundaries that ran across the turn of the year. The effect has been a more legible schedule and a Player of the Year race that maps onto the calendar people actually use.
The international footprint has expanded alongside it. This year's Circuit has taken in Malta for the first time, returned to Paris at the Partouche Pasino, run in Montreal with a CA$14 million Super Circuit, and continued its long-standing US programme at venues including Hard Rock Tulsa, Horseshoe Tunica, Harrah's Cherokee and Texas Card House in Austin.
Recent results give a sense of the range. Mayukh Chakraborty won the WSOP Super Circuit Canada Main Event for CA$1,500,000 from 2,844 entries — a first ring and a career-changing score. Jesse Jones took the Hard Rock Tulsa Main Event for $112,945, his sixth Circuit ring, plus a $5,000 WSOP Paradise package. Same tour, wildly different scales.
What a gold ring is actually worth
There is a persistent misunderstanding about WSOP Circuit rings among players who have not chased one. They are not a consolation prize for people who cannot afford a bracelet event.
A ring qualifies you for the Tournament of Champions, feeds into the Circuit Player of the Year standings, and — for the ring leaders — carries genuine prestige within the live tournament community. Players like Jesse Jones, sitting on six rings, have built careers around the Circuit rather than the summer series.
More practically, Circuit Main Events occupy a buy-in band — typically CHF/€/$1,500 or below — where a competent tournament player can post a real ROI without needing a backer. The step from a $200 local tournament to a $1,500 Circuit Main is meaningful but not absurd, and the structures are considerably better than most regional events.
What this means for players
Satellite value is at its highest in small-guarantee festivals. A $2.50 satellite into a CHF 1,500 event has a nominal 600-to-1 return, but the real edge is that satellite fields are usually far weaker than the target tournament's field. Structure reading is a skill. Before you book travel for any festival, read the structure sheet: starting stack, level lengths, late registration period, and re-entry rules. A CHF 1,500 event with 30-minute levels plays completely differently from one with 60-minute levels. Cash game players should note the CHF 25/50 series. A dedicated high-stakes cash series running alongside a tournament festival is a signal: the tournament field feeds the cash games. If you play cash games at a level where CHF 25/50 is reachable, festival weeks are historically the softest time to sit down. The WSOP's international Circuit programme has grown into one of the most geographically ambitious tournament operations in poker. Liechtenstein, Malta, Paris, Montreal — these are not markets with deep poker traditions, and the WSOP is essentially building demand where it did not previously exist.
