Poker Dream 26 Malaysia has released its full schedule, and the interesting part is not the Main Event guarantee. It is a four-player team event billed as a Southeast Asian first, a Dream Bonus overhaul that changes how rewards accumulate across a festival, and a High Roller rake cut to 4% with staff fees removed entirely.
The festival runs October 8 to 19, 2026 at Genting Highlands — twelve straight days across 43 numbered events.
The team event
Poker Dream's headline innovation puts squads of four players in competition across the whole festival rather than in a single tournament.
Team members accumulate individual ranking points from their results throughout the series. Those points determine the team's total starting stack on the Final Day, scheduled for October 17 at 12:00. A team that runs well for nine days sits down with a mountain; a team that busts early sits down short.
The mechanics on the final day are unusual. Players can be swapped in and out during the final stage, and once the field is down to the last three teams, all remaining teammates play simultaneously. Each team also gets Time-Out cards that halt action for a strategic group discussion — an explicit invitation to collaborate mid-hand, which is exactly the thing poker normally prohibits.
Every team receives custom T-shirts, and all four members of the winning squad receive their own championship trophy.
It is a genuine format experiment. Poker has run team events before — the WSOP tag team bracelet being the most prominent — but tying starting stacks to festival-long performance and allowing live tactical discussion at the table is a further step. Whether it produces good poker is an open question; whether it produces content and social buy-in is not really in doubt.
The Dream Bonus rebuild
Poker Dream's Dream Bonus has been a signature feature, and it has been reworked in a way that rewards volume more directly.
Previously, the bonus calculation used a player's single Day 2 qualifying bag. Now all chip bags accumulated across qualifying flights count toward the calculation. The cash value assigned to a player's third bag has increased significantly, with larger rewards for bagging three or more times.
The incentive is transparent: fire multiple flights, bag repeatedly, get paid. For a festival competing for attention in a crowded October calendar, encouraging re-entry through a bonus rather than pure tournament equity is a sensible lever — though players should price it honestly. A bonus that pays you for bagging is still a bonus attached to buying in again, and the correct question is whether the combined tournament equity plus bonus beats the buy-in, not whether the bonus is nice to have.
High Roller economics
The rake changes deserve attention from anyone playing the top of the schedule. High Roller events carry 4% rake with staff fees removed entirely.
That is aggressive. Live high roller events commonly run 3-6% all-in once staff fees and administrative charges are layered on, and the "no staff fee" element is the unusual part — most festivals fund dealer and floor compensation through a separate line item that players see only at registration.
The High Roller ladder itself is deep:

The Main Event and the tier structure
The #16 Main Event carries a MYR 5 million guarantee per the published schedule, with a two-tier buy-in that is worth understanding before you register.
Day 1A on October 12 is an Economy Tier flight at RM 1,800. Days 1B-1F and 1H-1J are Luxury Tier at RM 4,800. Flipout days 1G and 1K sit at RM 3,300. Day 2 runs October 15, with the Final Day on October 16.
Tiered buy-ins into a shared prize pool are increasingly common in Asian festivals and they are a real consideration for value. An Economy Tier entry buys the same seat at Day 2 as a Luxury Tier entry at nearly triple the price — the difference being starting stack and structure. If you are budget-conscious and comfortable playing a shorter stack well, the Economy flight is usually the better price per unit of equity.
The rest of the schedule is broad. The #5 Malaysia Open carries a MYR 1.5 million guarantee at RM 1,500 across seven Day 1 flights October 9-10 plus a RM 1,000 Flipout. The #28 Monster Stack offers MYR 1 million guaranteed at RM 2,200 on October 16. The #2 Warm Up opens proceedings October 8 at RM 800 with MYR 150,000 guaranteed.
The mixed games and the rest
Poker Dream has built one of the deeper mixed-game menus in Asian poker: 7 Card Stud/Razz (RM 1,500), NL Single Draw Mix A-5 and 2-7 (RM 1,000), PLO (RM 1,200), Short Deck (RM 1,500 and RM 2,000), Limit Hold'em (RM 1,000), PLO Hi-Lo (RM 1,200), Badugi (RM 1,000) and an NLH/PLO Mixed event (RM 1,200).
There are also six Mystery Bounty events from RM 1,000 to RM 3,000, a #7 Senior Event for age 50+ at RM 1,000, two ladies events (#12 at RM 800 and #38 Ladies Main Event at RM 1,200), and a #37 Mini Main Event at RM 1,500 on October 18-19.
The satellite ecosystem is extensive: 26 Milestone satellites from RM 190 into the Warm Up up to RM 2,000 for High Roller Day 1B, Main Event Luxury Tier satellites at RM 500-600, and a capped 300-seat freeroll into the Malaysia Open on October 9.
Early Bird accommodation and entry packages expire September 30, are limited, and go first-come first-served.
What this means for players
The team event is the reason to bring friends. If you were going to travel with a group anyway, four-player squads turn a shared trip into a shared result. It also changes your incentives — points accumulated in side events now have value beyond their own prize pools.
Check the tier maths before you register. An Economy Tier Main Event entry at RM 1,800 versus Luxury at RM 4,800 is a real decision, and for most players the cheaper flight is better value. Work out the starting stack difference in big blinds before deciding.
