CoinPoker Launches $50M GOPC Series

By jason-murphyยทAugust 22, 2026ยท6 min read

CoinPoker has launched the Global Online Poker Championship, a $50 million guaranteed series running August 23 through September 28, with a further $350,000 in additional rewards layered on top. It is the largest guarantee the crypto-native room has ever put behind a single series, and it lands in the most contested month on the online poker calendar.

The timing is not accidental. GOPC overlaps almost completely with the 2026 WSOP Online series on GGPoker (August 16 to September 29, 33 bracelets, $66 million-plus guaranteed) and with PokerStars WCOOP (September 6-30, 350 tournaments, around $40 million). CoinPoker is not trying to avoid the giants. It is trying to sit directly in their path.

Why CoinPoker Can Make This Bet

Twelve months ago a $50 million guarantee from a crypto room would have looked reckless. The traffic data suggests it is now defensible.

CoinPoker has posted the strongest growth of any major network in the recent tracking windows โ€” roughly +8.1% across a 90-day view and +14.7% across a 7-day view, the best short-term cash game growth of any top-five network. It is now the largest crypto poker network tracked by SharkScope. Crucially, that growth is concentrated in cash games, with the 30-day average running ahead of the 90-day average โ€” a pattern that indicates genuine momentum rather than a promotional spike.

Cash game traffic is the health metric that matters. Tournament guarantees can be bought with marketing spend; a room can overlay its way to impressive-looking series numbers for a quarter. Sustained cash game growth means players are choosing to sit down repeatedly, which is a far harder thing to manufacture.

Our crypto poker hub tracks the segment, and the CoinPoker landscape sits within a network map that has changed substantially in the last two years.

The Rewards Machine Behind It

The $50 million guarantee is not CoinPoker's only spend. The room runs roughly $7 million a month through its CoinRewards program โ€” CoinRaces leaderboards, Splash Pots, Missions, and Bankroll Boosts โ€” and introduced a 3-Bet Club membership from August 17, 2026 offering a 10% to 15% rewards boost on all fees.

That is an aggressive rake-return posture, and it is the crypto sector's core competitive weapon. Without the payment processing costs, chargeback exposure, and fiat banking overheads that constrain traditional operators, crypto-native rooms can return a larger share of rake to players and still run profitably.

For players, this is the part of the offer that actually compounds. A one-off series guarantee is a marketing event; a structural 10-15% improvement in effective rake changes your hourly rate every session for as long as you play there. Our rakeback explainer covers how to calculate what an offer is genuinely worth, and the rakeback deals page compares what is available across rooms.

The Three-Series Collision

September 2026 will be the single most oversupplied month in online tournament poker history. Three flagship series, roughly $156 million in combined guarantees, competing for a global population of serious online tournament players that has grown but has not tripled.

Several things follow from this:

Overlays are likely somewhere. When guarantees are set independently by operators who each assumed they would capture the available volume, at least one schedule will fall short. Overlay is free money for players โ€” it means the operator is topping up the prize pool from its own funds. The trick is spotting which events are running light early enough to register.

Softer fields at the margins. Serious grinders will concentrate on the series where they have the best rake deal and the deepest edge. That thins the professional density in the other two, which is good news for anyone who picks the road less travelled.

Schedule discipline beats volume. Nobody plays all three properly. The players who post good results in September will be the ones who chose a primary series, treated the others as opportunistic, and protected their sleep. Our tournaments hub and bankroll management guide cover how to build a survivable series plan.

What This Means for Players

Understand the crypto model before you deposit. CoinPoker operates on cryptocurrency rails โ€” deposits, withdrawals, and rewards flow in digital assets, with stablecoins increasingly used to remove price volatility from the equation. That means fast, low-fee cashouts and no bank involvement, but it also means you need a working understanding of wallets and, in most jurisdictions, a plan for tax reporting. Our Bitcoin poker and payments guides cover the practicalities.

Volatility risk is separate from poker risk. If your bankroll sits in a volatile asset, you can lose money without playing a hand. Stablecoin-denominated balances substantially reduce that exposure, and most serious crypto grinders keep their working roll in stables rather than in assets that move.

Check your access. Crypto rooms serve markets that regulated operators cannot reach, which is a large part of their appeal โ€” but licensing, dispute resolution, and player-fund protection standards vary widely across the segment. Our safe poker sites page sets out what to verify before you deposit anywhere.

Compare the whole offer, not the headline. A $50 million guarantee is a number. What determines your results is the buy-in structure, the field composition, the rake, and the rewards. A room with smaller guarantees and better rakeback can easily be the more profitable place to play.

For US-facing players weighing alternatives, Americas Cardroom on the Winning Poker Network and BetOnline on Chico both accept crypto and run their own guaranteed schedules โ€” our Chico versus WPN comparison breaks down the differences.

The Segment Story

CoinPoker's rise is the clearest evidence that crypto poker has moved past novelty. The segment's early years were characterized by tiny fields, questionable software, and a heavy overlap with speculative token trading. What has changed is that the rooms started competing on poker fundamentals โ€” game quality, rake, traffic, and anti-cheating measures. CoinPoker's decision to ban HUDs in favour of integrated tracking, for instance, was a product decision aimed squarely at recreational retention rather than at crypto enthusiasts.

A $50 million guarantee is the natural next step in that progression: an assertion that the room belongs in the same conversation as PokerStars and GGPoker, made at the exact moment both are running their own flagship series.

The verdict arrives in the numbers. Watch whether GOPC's early events hit their guarantees, and watch whether CoinPoker's cash traffic holds its growth curve once the series ends in late September. Those two things will tell you whether this was a milestone or a very expensive advertisement.
